King of Darkness debuted in AMAZING MAN COMICS #24 (October 1941) and lasted through the end of the series' run, #26 (January 1942).
His "power" was definitely unique, and it's probably safe to say it's never been duplicated. It wasn't very stealthy, though. You'd see him coming a mile away -- and it seems like everyone in this story just followed the big column of darkness right back to Bruce King's house! Not so good for the ol' secret identity!
